i found this article to co-incide with what I think about when I hear tell about rascism. The subtle meanings, the hidden messages. However, I don’t really think it has become as servere as the author of this article says. People don’t TRY to be rascist (except in extreme cases), and much of it is just subconcious, left over from when it was common nature to say the n-bomb every 3 sentences. All the other races the article speaks about, I agree with the generalizations it presents, but once again disagree that people are conciously perpetuating these ideas.

i like your post and i agree with you that most people do say racist comments unconsiously, however i dont think that every single comment is like this. I am sure that there are many people do say it to harm and hurt other people. But if we relate it to Huck Finn and our understanding of why they use the n-bomb so muc, your theory makes sense.

I agree that people aren’t racist on purpose. I think each generation becomes naturally less racist, but it never goes away. What we hear from our elders will effect us-the youth. What we hear in the media will effect us. We can as stubborn as we want and claim to be completely free of racism, but I think each generation only gets diluted. Today, you can find older people making racial slurs possibly more often than you do young adults. For younger people, racism tends to be a joke almost. Using old racial slurs have actually become apart of teen vocabulary with their friends.
